About AP Lang Calculator
Who We Are
AP Lang Calculator was founded by Maya Chen, a first-generation college student from
Austin, Texas, who scored a 5 on the AP English Language and Composition exam in 2023.
After her junior year, Maya spent weeks manually reverse-engineering College Board’s
scoring tables — because no free, accurate tool existed. She built the first version of
this calculator in a Google Sheet and shared it with her AP Lang class. It spread.
By 2024, over 50,000 students had used it. So she rebuilt it properly — with real
historical data, multiple scoring curves, and zero ads.
